My Blog's Love Inspired of the Month
By Roni@romancebookscene.com
Heather Anderson believes that the women in her family are cursed when it comes to love, so when the newest resident of Lighthouse Lane steps into her Tea Room she decides no matter how handsome J.C. might be it is best for her to stay away. After all no matter how good a man he is his stay in Nantucket is only temporary and she isn't ready to to get burned again.
Justin Clay came to Nantucket to get his life back in order after an undercover assignment goes bad. When he meets his new next door neighbor he knows that he should stay far away. His life is complicated enough at the moment, but after getting to know Heather, he can't seem to stay away.
The Hero Next Door is a well written inspirational story instilling the importance to forgiveness and caring. There are several references to bible verses that deal with the subject. The couple, J.C. and Heather have a lot of appeal as both struggle with being attracted to each other, but don't want to be hurt more than they already have been. J.C. is a caring, soft spoken hero who has a lot to offer.
Description:
When two fellow officers die in a sting operation set up by undercover cop Justin Clay, he heads to Nantucket Island on a leave of absence, figuring that working there as a beat cop during the summer tourist season will give him a chance to decompress and regroup. But he hadn't counted on falling for Heather Anderson, owner of The Devon Rose tearoom. That's a complication he doesn't need...or want. Nor is Heather interested in the town's newest cop. After experiencing the destructive effects of infidelity on families and relationships, she's written off romance. But when her well-ordered world is turned upside down by family complications and J.C. steps in to help, she begins to believe he's a man of integrity, honor and principle--and to wonder if he might be the exception to her rule...and a man worth loving.

Oh...WOW!!!
By M. Palmer
I found myself saying that several times as I read this book. I loved the drama Hannon put in this one.
First we have Heather Anderson. Heather currently runs the tea room and lives on LIghthouse Lane. She lost her mother just two years before, and hadn't spoken to her father in twenty years. Her father had an affair, and ever since then Heather or her mother wanted nothing to do with him. But Heather's sister didn't feel the same. What's worse, Heather's nephew is having trouble with a rough crowd, so her sister is sending the nephew to Heather for three weeks!
Then there's Justin Clay. He's in Nantucket for some very necessary down time, which he'll spend working nights as a cop for three months. But J.C. soon meets Heather and they are immediately drawn to each other. Though he doesn't want to, he suddenly finds himself involved with Heather, her nephew, and eventually her father.
Justin has his own set of problems. Besides watching to of his married friends die in the line of fire, a undercover operation gone very, very wrong; Justin has his own family trouble. Neither his brother or sister are interested in hearing him speak of God. While his sister's life is pretty tame, his brother in currently in prison serving a sentence for armed robbery.
The author did well describing the events, town, and people. I loved the way everything kept going together. I enjoyed reading the tree scene and how sweet J.C. acts toward her. I enjoyed the drama with Heather and her nephew, Heather and her father, and J.C. and his brother.
The only issue I had was that we never really saw any spiritual transformation with Heather. The author left that kind of unresolved in my opinion. I'm assuming there was a spiritual transformation formed between God and Heather, but we sure didn't see it! But it was still an excellent book.

Irene Hannon has become one of my favorite writers. In this book I especially like how God can bring two people together to receive healing, joy and love when they least expect it. And I definitely want to visit Nantucket after reading about it!
